The Value of The Time
To realize the value of one year,
Ask a student who has failed a final exam.
To realize the value of one month,
Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
To realize the value of one week,
Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of one hour,
Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of one minute,
Ask a person who has missed the train, bus or plane.
To realize the value of one second,
Ask a person who has survived an accident.
To realize the value of one millisecond,
Ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.
Time waits for no one.
Treasure every moment you have.
A Red,Red Rose
By Robert Burns
Oh,my luve(1) is like a red,red rose,
That'snewly sprung in June,
Oh, my luve is like the melodie,
That's sweetly played in tune.
As fair thou my bonnie lass(2),
So deep in luve am I,
And I will luve thee still my dear,
'Till a' the seas gang(3) dry.
'Till a' the seas gang dry,my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun,
And I will luve thee still my dear,
Where the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee well,
My only love,
And fare thee well a while,
And I will come again,my luve,
Though it were ten-thousand mile.
[注析]

(2)As fair art thou my bonnie lass:art=are;bonnie=bonny,全句为My love is as deep as you are beautiful.

From a Hymn on the Seasons
By James Thompson
These,as they change,Almighty Father,
These are but the very god,
That all the year is full of Thee.
Forth in the pleasing Spring,
Thy beauty walks.
Thy tenderness and love,
Wide flash the fields.
The softening air is blam.
Echo the mountains round,
The forest smiles,
And every sense, and every heart is joy.
Then comes Thy glory,
In the summer months
With light and heart refulgent.
Then Thy Son shoots full perfection,
Through the swelling year.
And oft Thy voice in dreadful thunder speaks,
And oft at dawn or deep noon or falling eve,
By brooks and groves in hollow whispering gales.
Thy bounty shines in autumn unconfined
And spreads a common feast for all that lives
And winter,awful thou
With clouds and storms
Around thee thrown tempest or tempest rode
Majestic darkness
On the whirlwind's wing
Riding sublime thou bidst the world adore
And humblest nature with thy northern blast. |
